How to Link Aadhaar Number to PAN
A) Linking Aadhar Number to PAN through SMS
- Now you can link your Aadhaar and PAN through SMS also. The
Income Tax Department has urged taxpayers to link their Aadhaar with their PAN, using an SMS-based facility.
- It can be done by sending an SMS to
either 567678 or 56161 from your mobile number registered with Income Tax.
- Send SMS to 567678 or 56161 from
your registered mobile number in the
following format: UIDPAN<SPACE><12 digit
Aadhaar><Space><10 digit PAN>.
- For example if your Aadhaar
number is 987654321012 and your PAN is ABCDE1234F, you have to type UIDPAN 987654321012 ABCDE1234F and send the message to either 567678 or 56161.
B)
Linking Aadhar Number to PAN through Income Tax E-filing Website
Step 1:
- Visit the income tax website www.incometaxindiaefing.gov.in.
- Login if already register or register yourself on website before login
Step 2:
- After logging in to the site, a pop up window will appear prompting you to link your PAN card with Aadhaar card. Click on it.
- If you don’t see the popup, go to blue tab on the top bar named ‘Profile Settings’ and click on ‘Link Aadhaar’.
Step
3:
- In
Next window details such as name, date of birth and gender will be auto
populated as mentioned as per the details submitted at the time of registration
on the Income tax e-Filing portal. Verify the
details on screen with the ones mentioned on your Aadhaar card.
- If
the details match, enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code and click on the
“Link Aadhar ” button
Step
4:
- On
clicking the “Link Aadhar ” button a pop-up message will inform you that your
Aadhaar number has been successfully linked to your PAN Card
